TPS61021A: PFM mode audible frequency

Part Number: TPS61021A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61086

Hello

My customer intend to design boost converter whose input is alcaline x 2( 1.8~ 3.2V)

and ouput is 3.3V 100mA(min) /300mA(typ) /1Apeak .  ( Compe; Tolex XC9141)

Also, forced PWM ( hope to > 1MHz ) should be hopefully , because  audio application.

I had suggested customer TPS61021A because its switching current(3A) is enough to

handle 1A peak, however, I understand that in case BATTERY is full ; for example

3.0V, output current may be less than 100mA...

If so, TPS61021A enters PFM mode and switching frequency becomes 100KHz or lower.

In my Webench simulation ( load transient) , if output were e.g. 50mA,switching frequency is

approx 60kHz and seems  not enter audible frequency, but customer is concerned about it  .

(Unfortunately, we don't have EVM now.)

Anyway, TPS61086 is forced PWM and may be good candidate, but Vin(MIN) = 2.3V

Question1

Do you think the switching frequency of  TPS61021A do not enter  audible frequency

in case Vin=3.0V/Vout=3.3V 50mA?  ( as my webench sim) Or, we should buy EVM asap?

I hope have your advise.

Question 2

Would you please advise your suggestion ( solution)  for boost converter?

:forced PWM or assurance for don't enter audio frequency

:Vin  1.8~ 3.2 ( alcaline  x 2)

:Vout 3.3V

:Iout 100mA min/300mA typ/ 1A max

Please give me your advise  soon.

Thanks for your support

Best Regards
