LP2989: Large Current Draw, and an Incorrect Output

Part Number: LP2989

Hello,

I am utilizing the LP2989 LDO for a design project with UCF. I have connected the chip to a breakout board and formed the example circuit shown in the datasheet. When I power the circuit utilizing a dedicated power supply, the power supply automatically drops the input voltage from 3.7V to 0.5V and begins supplying 1.5A. The load on the chip is only a 750ohm resistor and should not be drawing such current.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Trent Coleman
