Hi,

My requirement for a design is:

VIN =3.6 - 4.2 V

Vout = 5.0V and 1.8V

Iout=1A

Can you please confirm whether I can proceed with TPS7A88.If not can you please suggest alternate part?

Hi Jenitt,

To answer your question. No.

The TPS7A88 is an LDO that can only take a VIN from 3.6-4.2V down to 1.8V. The TPS7A88 can do this, but at 1A you need to pay attention to the efficiency and thermals. The worst case you have is 4.2 to 1.8V so a 2.4V drop. At 1A this is 2.4W of power dissipation!. It looks like your input voltage is a battery. the TPS7A3701DRV might be a better choice as it has lower Iq.

If you want to boost to 5V, you would require a boost converter. I will forward this to the team to recommend the best solution to do this.

Do you have any embedded inductor(i.e.no need for adding external inductor in the design) switching regulator for above specs?

what about TPS81256, which is a power module. but its output current is only 500mA level.
