TPS65311-Q1: Wake up event

Part Number: TPS65311-Q1

Hi,

There is following picture on the datasheet p32.

Does it mean that the wake up event must be asserted after tstart(=3ms)?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • TQ,

This post has been assigned to the correct engineer at TI, who will reply to your post and try to resolve the question efficiently.

By quickly looking at the section of the datasheet you are referring to, I see a Note below Figure 24:

Does this help your understanding of the WAKE Event?

  • Hi Kuramochi-san.

As Brian already indicated, when the ECU is coming up from fresh start (or input power cycling), device does not need wake input to power up. This is usually the case with ECU supply connected to KL-15/ignition supply (or non-permanent supply). If the ECU is supplied directly from KL-30/battery line (or permanent supply), ECU will see the power cycling only when battery is disconnected/connected from ECU (typically in the factory/repair center) and in this case, ECU is turned off (or LPM0 mode) through SPI control and reactivation of ECU is through rising edge on WAKE.

Hope this is clear to you now.

    Regards,

    Murthy

  • Brian-san, Murthy-san,

    Thank you for your help.

Above picture is valid in the case of only non-permanent supply, and means that VINPROT rises up after rising edge on WAKE.
And the tstart is not related to rising edge on WAKE.
    Is it correct?

    Best Regards,
    Kuramochi
  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

Yes. tstart is not related to rising edge on WAKE. In Electrical specification table(datasheet page-14, POWER-UP SEQUENCING) Tstart and its condition is mentioned.

For non-permanent supply (KL15), wake is not needed for power up and VINPROT comes up after tstart delay. In case of permanent supply(KL30, LPM0 mode), VINPROT comes up immediately after WAKE high is detected.

    Regards,

    Murthy
