TPS61194: Fault condition

Part Number: TPS61194

What is the value of VSET_DCDC?

What's the threshold of VIN_OVP fault and how is it affected by Vout?

I use TPS61194 to drive a string of 12 white LEDs at 150mA (2 outputs connected together, other 2 are shorted to GND). Supply voltage is 5V.

Thanks,

Udi

  • Hi Udi,
VSET_DCDC is not a fixed value and depends on the LED string forward voltage drop. VSET_DCDC is roughly equal to forward voltage drop of the LED string + ~1V for headroom voltage for current sinks (OUTx pins). If Vin is above VSET_DCDC + ~6.1V, VIN OVP condition is detected. Basically, once VIN is greater than what boost output voltage needs to be, boost stops switching and Vout is VIN minus boost diode forward voltage drop - any IR drop in traces and inductor winding.
    Hope this clarifies.
