BQ76PL536A-Q1: External Circuitry Options

Part Number: BQ76PL536A-Q1

Hi, Im planning on using the BQ76PL5346A-Q1 to monitor and balance stacks of five 3.7V Li-Po Cells, the reference design utilises a EMI filter, Nyquist filter and filter pole. These have all been given capacitor/resistor values. For what reason were these component values selected? (or why was the cutoff frequency not specified to be lower?)

Thanks,

Alex

  • 1K and 0.1uF is our recommendation.
Here is why we don't want to lower the cutoff freq.

    1. Factory calibrates offset and gain with 1K and 0.1uF. You will get best accuracy with this filter.
    2. increasing R will cause IR drop and it will impact the accuracy.
    3. Increasing C is not recommended as well for hotplug.
    4. Lowering R is not also recommended for hot plug.

My recommendation is stick with our recommendation.
  • Thanks for the quick reply Roger, that has helped to lear things up a lot.

    Kind Regards,

    Alex
