UCC27201A: Should the exposed bottom pad be connected to VSS?

I have a question in regards to the UCC27201ADPR, which is a WSON-10 package.  It is not clear in the datasheet, but should the exposed bottom pad be connected to VSS?

    Leo,

    The exposed thermal die pad on the UCC27201ADPR (WSON-10) is not internally connected to VSS. The device will operate electrically even if the pad is not connected to VSS. However, the recommendation is to connect the exposed pad to a large thermal mass trace or GND plane to improve thermal performance.
