LM2758: minimum LED current setting

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: LM2758

Hello

I have some questions about LM2758.
Our customer request the following specification LED drive and I promoted LM2758.
LED 1pcs, Vout=4.2~5V, Vin=3.2V~4.2V, 40mA,  as small as possible package, stand alone control

(1) minimum LED current
They would lke to use this device on Torch mode only.
Can we set 40mA LED current on torch mode?

From the equation(1) , I think that we can use 40mA on 31.5kohm Rset.
However, in the figure 6 led current  is about 80mA with 31.kohm Rset.

(2) LED accuracy
If we can use this device with 40mA LED current on torch mode, please let me know the LED current accuracy.

(3) Other device
If we can't use this device with 40mA LED current , please let me know other recommended device.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello,
I replied to your direct email as well.

Page 8 of the datasheet shows the equation for torch.

    Rset = gain * 1.3 / Itorch
    For torch gain = 1639

    For 40mA, I calculated Rset = 53.3kohm.

With regards to the accuracy, this device is only specified at 500mA with a +\- 10% spec. Only datasheet parameters are guaranteed.
