BQ34Z100-G1: Chemistry ID

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, , GPCCHEM

I have been working on a design using the BQ34Z100-G1 part. I have played around using the evaluation module and we have also created a custom board. Our design makes use of FDK NiMH cells, and there is no obvious matching chemistry in the bqStudio tool. I have created an automated test system that can read values from the fuel gauge, and control a dynamic measurement power supply which can both sink and source. My script uses the -dV method for detected end of charge, and it seems to work very well.

The problem is that the fuel gauge never seems to make updates to the Ra table, and therefore never actually gets trained. I have set my flash update okay voltage to 0.9 V / cell - and my pack has 16 cells in series.

The cells we are using are 16x FDK HR-DU NiMH cells wired in series. The datasheet can be found here: www.batterystore.com/.../fdk_HR-DU.pdf

Would choosing the wrong chemistry effect my ability to train the cell completely, or would I just expect wrong results at the end?
