Hi All,

Since i am not much familiar with the hardware side, I am asking this query. Could any one explain what are all the different kind of charging mechanisms available for smart battery like precharging, trickle charging?

What are the factors to be considered to take a decision to enter into particular charging state? 

Can i get any documents to give more info regarding the same?

    Hello Prakash,

    The answer to your question depends on your battery cells' chemistry, which you should be able to get the info from the cell manufacturer specification sheet. bq40z50-R1 is a gauge, not a charger. It doesn't have the ability to broadcast to a smart charger to help control the charging profile. Here's a typical Li-ion charging profile. I would also recommend working with the TI charger (BCP) team to select a charger best suited for your cells and application needs.

    Thanks for your reply. I just curious about to know what is precharging and trickle charging, fast charging? Is there any documents available to understand more about these?
