BQ24618: Okay to bypass IC for high current discharge?

Part Number: BQ24618

I'm building a custom 1s battery pack. Charging current will be 10A, which works fine with this controller. But my maximum discharge will be 45A. Would it be okay to pull this directly from VBAT rather than SYSTEM? Obviously over-discharge would be a concern but I am planning on each cell having it's own protection (to prevent total pack loss if one cell goes bad).
