TPS65094: TPS65094x change Vsys to 5V in buck1,2.6 source input

Part Number: TPS65094

I want to change the VSYS voltage to 5V only in the Buck1, Buck2 and Buck6 source input of TPS65094x.

The other VSYS also keep the 5.8V input. May I know this change have any impact? Thanks.

  • Hi Gary,

    Thank you for your post.

The impact of making this change is minimal, however it is important to ensure that VSYS pin is never more than 0.7V below V5ANA pin. Typically this is done by adding small diode to ensure VSYS stays close to V5ANA while ramping.

For the controllers, the switching frequency will increase slightly, typically from 1 MHz to 1.1 MHz. This is because the initial on time estimate uses VSYS pin voltage as a starting point. It does not effect regulation however because the controller uses SWx voltage after high side FET turns on to determine actual FET input voltage.
