My customer is considering the failure mode of the BQ24172.

What ampere is current limit value when the R3 is opened on following schematic?

Hi Kuramochi,

Current limit setting is shown in datasheet "9.3.2 Battery Current Regulation".

If R3 opened(ISET pulls up to Vref(3.3V)), it's always above current limit threshold(0.8V). We recommend customer follow the reference design to set current limit by voltage divider.

Hi Kuramochi,

I've tested the EVM. If the VISET is larger than 0.8V, current limit will be clamped at 4.6A.(test until VISET=VREF)
