TPS65217: LDO1/2

Genius 4840 points
Part Number: TPS65217

In datasheet P38 Figure 20 we found following description.

"(5) LDO1/2 are not powered down when entering SLEEP mode if assigned to STROBE 14/15 or not under sequencer control. In
SLEEP mode, LDO1 and 2 can source 1mA only. By default LDO1 is asigned to STROBE15 and LDO2 to STROBE2."

This means

When LDO1/2 are assigned to STROBE 14/15 or "rail is not controlled by sequencer",LDO1 and 2 can source only 1mA not 100mA.

Is my understanding correct?

  • Hi kura,

I will assign your query to TPS65217 expert and we will get back to you.

  • On page 21, in Section 9.3.1.3, it explains "Special Strobes (STROBE 14 and 15)" in more detail:

"STROBE 14 and STROBE 15 are not assigned to the main sequencer but used to control rails that are ‘always-on’,

i.e. are powered up as soon as the device exits OFF state and remain ON in SLEEP state. STROBE 14/15

options are available only for LDO1 and LDO2 and not for any of the other rails..."

You can test this functionality on LDO1 in any of the TPS65217 EVMs (A, B, C, or D), since LDO15 is assigned to Strobe 15 in all of the default OTP programming.

In order to assign LDO1/2 to different sequence (strobe) numbers, the devices need to be re-programmed at the factory before shipping.
