TPS61165: TPS61165 meet esd problem

Hi team,

My customer is using TPS61165 now and meets esd problem. The esd test is air discharge 8kv~12kv to the case of the product. The case connects the earth and the chip gnd. When do the esd test, the chip will stop working. When we turn off the power supply and restart it, the chip works again.

Do you have some suggestions to solve the problem or do you have other devices to recommend?

May I ask where the device is used? If it is in automotive backlight, we have TPS61165 Q grade.

Hi Frank,
Since the case has already connected to the earth, to bypass the high dv/dt to earth, you could increase the impendance from case to chip gnd. A small bead would be helpfull.
May I ask why the case should be connected to chip gnd? To guarantee the safty, case to earth is enough, otherwise, the noise coupled to case will effect the chip.
