TPS7A88: TPS7A88

Part Number: TPS7A88
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A91

Hi All ,

An important customer would appreciate your urgent help with TPS7A88.

According to the data sheet, it is incorporating two LDO’s.

The customer would like to use only one of these LDO.

1. What should he do with the other LDO pins?

2. In addition, the customer wants to make sure that thermal computations remains the same when using only single LDO, and that he can still have the same thermal coefficient mentioned in the D/S.

Best regards ,

  • Hi Arik,

If he is only using one of the LDO's he can either leave the unused pins unconnected though it is best practice to connect them to GND. As for the thermal performance, it will be exactly the same when using the single LDO.

Your customer may also want to look at the TPS7A91 which has very similar performance to the TPS7A88 but comes in a smaller package. If the thermals are a big concern then TPS7A88 may be still be the better choice for them since thermal performance is proportional to die size (the larger the die size the lower the thermal resistance will be).
