BQ27500: when Chg DoD at EoC updated?

Part Number: BQ27500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQEVSW,

Hello

Please let me know when Chg DoD at EoC updated.

Chg DoD at EoC is updated when IT Enable= 1 ( IT enable) only ?

So, if IT Enable=0, Chg DoD at EoC is not changed and it is  0 ( default value),......  is this understanding correct?

The background of the question is, my customer has retrun from market which has wrong SOC(%) ~ 50% even full charged Battery inserted.

The returned device  has big value of Chg DoD at EoC(~7000)  even IT Enable =0.

When I write Chg DoD at EoC=0  to the returned device thru i2C using  the bqEVSW, SOC(%) shows same as good device.

I do not know the reason why the Chg DoD at EoC, but customer and I want to narrow down the cause.

The good device seems correct SOC even IT Enable=0 ( because of coulomb counting.)

With My Best Regards

  • Hi kanji,
If IT isn't enabled, the gauging algorithm isn't active. IT enable needs to be set to 1 by sending command 0x21. Did you carry out a learning cycle and create a golden file for programming on multiple devices? Do you have a gg and maybe an srec or senc file extracted from the unit showing this wrong reading?

    thanks

  • Dear Onyx san

Thank you for your reply quickly, and I am sorry to delay my response.

I understand IT=0 means impedance track is disable, but I think CC( coulomb counter ) is still enable, and SOC(%)  is indicated well depends

on each battery. ( bq27500 on customer's board seems works  well even IT=0 ) in case good board.

    <Question>

I am sorry to bother you again, but please let me know   whether  Chg DoD at EoC is updated Or not in case IT=0.

Chg DoD at EoC is not changed ( that is to say, it is zero) if IT=0?

    Sorry to bother you again

  • I am not certain of that answer as i haven't used the gauge without having IT enabled on it. It is pointless using the gauge without IT enabled.
    thanks
