Part Number: SM3320-BATT-EV
Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a Programmable Solar MPPT Charge Controller IC or a development board. My main aim is to having a programmable control the output power and voltage of the solar panel to control the overall power generated by the solar panel. I have come across SM72442 (IC) and SM3320 (Eval Kit), but I have a few questions that I would like to ask.
1) SM72442 provides me a way to dictate the output voltage and current either by hardware (using resistors) or I can override them using I2C communication with the IC and setting some register values. This is ideal solution but the effort required to build the complete circuitry with DC/DC converter and H-bridge driver is an overhead that I would like to avoid.
2) SM3320 have all the hardware I need. Its application note also describes a way to set the output voltage limit. However, it states that current regulation is done only at two levels: a high current and a low current and that is done by changing external resistors. I am wondering if I can override that by setting the register values in SM72442 IC of the kit? Is there anything in this hardware that will prevent me to do that?
Please keep in mind my overall objective: having a programmable control over the solar panel output. I would like to integrate this kit with my PC and my main algorithm will run there to dynamically set the limits.
Regards,
Noman
