BQ34Z100-G1: Losing communication to bq34Z100-G1 after flashing .srec file to device.

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQSTUDIO

Hello,
I am trying to program a customized .srec file to bq34Z100-G1 mounted on a PCBA using EV2300 and Battery Management Studio. After I program this file, the display on screen shows the message "Writing Instruction flash row xxx of 512. It does not complete all 512 row and this message disappears and I lost communication to the device. It does not see bq34Z100-G1 device anymore. I've tried 6 PCBAs and 4 of them have this problem. The other 2 complete all 512 rows. Can you please let me know what the issue might be? And for the 2 PCBA that complete all 512 row, how do I check to make sure that the .srec file is loaded successfully?
Thank you.
Khanh

    • Hi,
    • You may need to check the following things:
    • Make sure the power supply for the gauge is above the min operation voltage of bq34z100
    • check your ev2300 firmware and update the lastest FW
    • the lengh of the cables from pc to board should not be to long
    • For the 2 successful board, you can connect them to bqstudio and read the data memory to see if the data are changed to your custom value to verify the program is success

  • Thank you Terry for your response.

I think my problem is due to the older FW version of EV2300. I have version 3.1c and I'll upgrade it to the latest version.

    Thanks,
