TPS54060: TPS56060 datasheet: page 27 equ 8 – how to calculate the switching frequency

Part Number: TPS54060

Support Path: /Product/Development and troubleshooting/Search the forums for my problem/

Dear Community,

we want to use the TPS56060 device together with an inductor that is not part of the list of recommended inductors generated by the webbench tool. Thus, we aim to calculate all the required parameters using a spreadsheet calculation. However the most important equation to calculate f_switch on page 27 (equ 8) contains the not defined parameter “Rhs”. I think it should be RDs(on) however I would be very happy if someone could give a hint.

Furthermore the difference between fshift and fskip is not well defined. I think in case of a shortcut f skip indicates the lowest possible switching frequency for a given input voltage because a number of SwitchOn states are “skipped” to reduce the current. Am I right?

Best Regards,

Matthias
