TPS54060: datasheet: page 27 equ 8 – how to calculate the switching frequency

Part Number: TPS54060

Dear Community,

we want to use the TPS54060 device together with an inductor that is not part of the list of recommended inductors generated by the webbench tool. Thus, we aim to calculate all the required parameters using a spreadsheet calculation. However the most important equation to calculate f_switch on page 27 (equ 8) contains the not defined parameter “Rhs”. I think it should be RDs(on) however I would be very happy if someone could give a hint.

Furthermore the difference between Fshift and Fskip is not well defined. I think in case of a shortcut f skip indicates the lowest possible switching frequency for a given input voltage because a number of SwitchOn states are “skipped” to reduce the current. Am I right?

Best Regards,

Matthias

@Admin: I posted already but mistyped the part number - please delete my previous post on this matter.

Yes, Rhs is "Resistance High Side", the same as RDSon. I do not know why it is stated as such. The Fskip and Fswshift frequencies are related to the minimum controllable on time. You should stay below those frequencies so that you are operating above the minimum controllable on time.
