BQ24250: BAT/SYS/IN Peak Current

Team,

Do we have any recommendations on peak current ratings for the BAT, SYS, and IN. The abs max table only lists continuous while we have other chargers which do specify both continuous and peak. Customer is specifically concerned about inrush current to capacitors for a very short duration which exceeds abs max continuous specs. Let me know if we have further data.

Hey Phil,

The best I can give you, at least for IN, which should be most pertinent in terms of inrush current, is the Cycle-by-Cycle current limit for the HS (Q2) FET on the device. This is spec'd anywhere between 2.6 and 3.8A. You can find it in the EC table as ICbC.

Also bear in mind that the charger has an input current limiting feature built in, which, depending on the duration of your inrush current, may be kick in to limit current.

We do not have peak current abs max data for this IC.
