BQ24160: Safety timer

Hi,

In our application we are configuring the BQ24160 safety timer to 6 hours. Will this 6 hours window be split between the 3 phases of charging in some ratio ?

Concern is:Whether Charger IC have any pre-charge cut off timer? Example: With a damaged battery, if the charging is continuing in the pre-charge phase at 50mA for prolonged time - then whether the IC will trigger fault well before the 6 hours window?

    Hi Sarin,

    The IC does not have a pre-charge timer. If V(BAT) < VBATSHORT, the regular safety timer is doubled.  Therefore it is recommended that the host set the timer to default = 27min which will be doubled to 54min when V(BAT) < VBATSHORT.
