BQ24090: Is the output of BQ24090 tristate when not charging?

Part Number: BQ24090

Hi,

May I understand if output of BQ24090 is tristate when not charging? There is an option to add alkaline battery and no blocking diode is added.

If blocking diode is added, then the BQ24090 has to be higher than 4.2V to charge.

Can also comment if the below implementation post any issue with BQ24090?

By the way, the Li-ion battery is 2400mAh.

Thanks,

Christina

  • Hello Christina,

The BQ24090's output is not tristate. Only the charge-status output is tristate.

Would you mind sending me a link of where you found the option to add alkaline batteries?

I would not remove the Diodes to ensure current does not run into your 4x AA batteries.

    Regards,

    David
