UCC28061: Using single output of UCC28061 and UCC28070

Part Number: UCC28061
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070, , UCC28060, UCC28180, UCC28050

Hi

Could I use UCC28061 and UCC28070 as single output?
If this using method is OK, are there the consideration?
Best regards,
Yokota
  • Hi Yokoto-san

Yes you could use only one output of these devices. I don't think there are any problems - the UCC28060 provides a PHB pin to turn GDB off. There is no internal way to disable one of the outputs of the UCC28070 but you can tie one of the the CAO (Current amplifier output pin) to zero V. This sets a zero current demand and the gate drive output will go to zero duty cycle.

Don't forget that TI offer single phase PFC controllers such as the UCC28050 (Transition Mode) and UCC28180 (Continuous Conduction Mode) and these may be better choices if the customer is going to use only a single phase power stage.
