Buck Converter with Foldback Current Limiting

Hi team,

We are interested in stepping down our voltage from 18 to 12V at about 2A. Do we have any buck converters that have foldback current limiting?

What do you mean by that? Do you want hiccup mode current limit rather than cycle by cycle?

Hi John,

I believe hiccup mode current limiting will turn off the buck for a short period of time and then try again to see if we still have an overcurrent condition.

From my understanding foldback current limiting will reduce the output voltage and current below the limits but still keep the buck on.

For cycle by cycle current limit you might try looking at TPS54233, TPS54232 or TPS54231 to start. Let me know if those are of interest to you.
