TLV70018-Q1: ESD Spec

Part Number: TLV70018-Q1

Hi Team:

Could you help me to check the TLV70018Q1 ESD spec?

For datasheet first page, it show Device HBM ESD Classification Level H2.

But the 6.2 section show the ESD rating is +/-2000V.

And the ESD spec is below:

Could you let me know which one is right? Thanks.

  • HI Derekm

I think part of the confusion is that we initially released this device as non-automotive and as such tested to pass +/-2000kV HBM. Later when we performed the automotive grade qualification we added the H2 classification.

So for H2 This classification, the actual tolerance is >2000V so I do not believe that there is a contradiction as HBM ESD H2 should be interpreted as 2000V to less than 4000V. So the actual threshold is somewhere less than 4000V. For  If the ESD level can survive more than 4000V, then it would be Class 3A.

Does this answer your question or did I misunderstand?

  • Hi Kumming:

Thanks. But why datasheet don;t show ESD rating 4000V? Thanks.

  • HI Derek,

The ESD is definitely not 4000V. it is less than 4000V. The way to read classification 2 is that it definitely can survive 2000V, but the failure point will be less than 4000V. All devices at this classification level would have the same rating even though the actual maximum voltage where failure can occur may vary.

    Does this make it clearer?
