UC2572: calculator for design

Part Number: UC2572
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5116

Hi sir,

Do you have any design tool for UC2572?

My customer want design for a 24V to -36V schematic, but I can't find detail for how to design this schematic in datasheet.

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff, The UC2572 is equivalent to the buck controller controlling the high side FET. The difference is, the UC2572 just have a low side driver. To drive a high side FET, the FET must be PFET. This is why the UC2572's driver output logic is inversed: High to turn off and Low to turn on. The device has been on the market for many years, however we do not have the design calculator like we have for most newly released devices. For your >150W load inverting power, you'd better to use a strong buck controller like I recommended to your previous e2e post. In addition to the LM5116, we are going to release a new buck controller very soon and it can also be considered. Sorry I cannot disclose too much in e2e before it is officially released to market.
  • Hi Youhao,

But my customer need design for +24 to -36V, LM5116 is buck controller, is it suitable for this design?

Any reference schematic or calculator tool can share to us?

    Thanks!

    Jeff
