hi my customer H. has a question regarding the TPS40055.

we use the power supply controller TPS 40055 in our new product generation to change the input voltage of 24V into 5V. During our assembly process we want to test other circuits in our device with a voltage of 5V. Can we damage the TPS 40055 if we put 5V on the output without putting 24V on the input?

Hi Kamal,

No, it won't get damaged. The SW pin of the controller is able to stand 45V max when operating, usually a bit more one off or no power.

even if the input cap is discharged.

this mean high peak current from output to input...
