BQ24298: STAT led blinking due to TS input

Hi,

With battery unplugged, and TS voltage input adjusted to be within range (2.5 V), STAT pin presents 1 Hz signal and REG 9 bit 0 (NTC_FAULT[0]) depicts value 1. REGN pin voltage is 5 V, input voltage is 5 V and VSYS is 3.7 V. CE pin is set high. Is there a way to reset REG 9 bit 0, stopping led blinking?

TS fault can't be reset. The TS pin voltage needs to be within the "normal" voltage range in order to remove the fault.

Hi,

I connected a potentiometer accross low-side resistor of the voltage divider and GND, and swept voltage from 3.5V to 0V, but TS fault wasn't removed, even 3,5V was detected as "hot". Please notice that battery is absent,, and charging is disabled.

Could you please measure both the TS pin voltage and REGN voltage at the same time and check the VTS/VREGN ratio? Thanks!

Hi,

REGN pin has 4.88V and TS pin voltage range goes from 0V to 3.33V on varying the potentiometer connected accross low-side resistor of resistive divider.

So VTS/VREGN ratio lowest value is zero and maximum value ís 0,68. For any VTS/VREGN ratio value STAT led continues blinking and NTC_FAULT[0] bit is 1.

An additional information: on enabling EN_HIZ (bit 7 REG[0]=1), REGN pin goes to 0.5V and STAT stops blinking. STAT blinks again when EN_HIZ=0.

Even removing low-side resistor, and injecting 5V in TS pin via the high-side resistor connected to REGN pin, NTC_FAULT[0] continues depicting hot temperature alarm.

Hi Tang,

Please disconsider the previous messages, we found out a problem with the assembly of BQ24298 in our board. After soldering it again, TS sensor worked, as well as battery charging.
