BQ24600: High working temperature

Dear All,

I'm facing high temperatue issue for bq24600. Chrage mode at CC and current is about 1A for a while the chip tempearuter is above 70°C.

In our layout thermal pad through via to bottom layer ground plane. So we think it is not a layout issue.

We also measure all output signal and all signal pin below max rating voltage .

This chip only do signal control and power mosfet is discrete why it power comsumption so high. What can i to check?

Hello

The temperature should not be that high, generally. What's your environmental temperature and other IC's temperature in your products? Could you check is there any short-circuit phenomenon for all pins of charger?

Hi Kerry,
Thanks for your reply.I had checked all of the pins and no short isssue. I guess the heat is generate from the on chip LDO,
because this LDO input voltage is 19v and output voltage is 6v. It's so high drop voltage. I will try replace the MOSFET to a lower Qg parts
like TI Demo Board used. To decrease the gate driver drive current ,come to reduce 6V LDO power consumption.
