BQ27520-G4: 37% of DF.Design Capacity

Hi Team,

I would like to ask about the following sentence in page 4 of the application note.
>PassedCharge has to be more than 37% of DF.Design Capacity for an update to occur.
http://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/an/slua450/slua450.pdf

Should I consider Qmax couldn't have been updated when actual battery capacity became less than 37% of Design Capacity?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita,

The battery capacity should never go to 37% of design capacity. A rechargeable  battery is considered dead and need to be replaced if it only has 80% of its original capacity.

The 37% stated simply means you have to have passed accumulated charge of atleast 37% of the design capacity to allow qmax to update in the field. For the initial learning cycle, it is 90% of design capacity

    thanks
