BQ24600: Cell balancing

I don't see that the BQ24600 has cell balancing features? I am planning to charge 3 Li-ion cells in series. Do I have to use another controller to do the cell balancing in tandem with the BQ24600?

Hello,

Our charger do not design cell balancing. Generally, it's satisfy multi-cell demand. Except notebook customer, most application don't add extra cell balancing. It depends the requirement of your application.

Thanks for the info Kerry.
What would be the difference in battery life with and without charge balancing?. I would be possibly using 3 Li-ion cells NCR chemistry.
I see that you have range of products in the battery monitors category which have cell balancing, can these be used with the battery charger chip.

Yes, battery monitor products could help on this. they could be used together. generally, you don't have to do this. For monitor detail, recommend that you build up a new forum question about monitor, their expert will help you.
