TPS795: The maximum output capacitor of TPS795

Hi Team,

I didn't see the maximum output capacitor limitation in TPS795's datasheet. I'm not sure whether TPS795 can work well with big capacitor as long as it's bigger than 1uF. If not, what's the maximum limitation for output capacitor?

    Hi Eric,

    As with many LDOs, we did not state a maximum restriction on output capacitance as such a restriction will be application specific.  Please note that as indicated in the typical characteristic curves and the Electrical Characteristics table that the majority of our evaluation of the device was done with a 10uF capacitor.  Using a larger ceramic capacitor will increase startup time and inrush current.

    How much output capacitance are you considering for your application?  Can some of the capacitance be placed on the input side of the LDO?
