TPS5410: EN60950-Current limit

Part Number: TPS5410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PTH08080W

Hi,

are you aware if we can supply any documentation for our devices that states we are compliant with Annex CC of  EN 60950-1:2006 + A11:2009 + A1:2010 + A12: 2011 +A2:2013, regarding current limit function?

In particular the customer is asking for TPS5410D.

Or the documentation is due only at systems level?

Thanks

Umberto

  • I doubt that the TPS5410 was specifically designed with that specification in mind. I do not have access to it. Can you provide some details of what that specification requires?
  • Hi John,

attached you find a description of the tests.

Pls let me know if we are doing anything for TPS5410 or other switchers to guarantee it.

    Thanks

  • That specification appears to apply specifically to current limiter ICs, not to dc/dc converters with built in current limiting.

Specifically to TPS5410, the inductance and capacitance stated in that spec are probably not suitable for use in designs based on TPS5410, unless they would be added after the normal LC output filter and feed back connection.

So far as I know, no dc/dc converter IC project that I have been involved in has included that testing.  Some modules such as PTH08080W are listed as EN60950 safety agency approvals.
