UCC29950: 280V 300W application example and comment

Part Number: UCC29950

Customer wants to design a 280V 300W application using UCC29950.

And so, he is considering to use the UCC29950EVM-631 as a test circuit, by repracing the trance and feedback circuits.

I think this is possible applications by selecting right parts, isn’t it?

However I could not find any example for such high voltage one.

If there is a good example or other one having near characteristic, we appreciate your information including recommendations and/or comments for this high voltage design.

  • Hi Yoshwa,

I have asked our knowledgeable AE to comment if there is a reference design for the 280 V input since I could not find one myself. The EVM is close but only up to 264 Vac. You should use the design calculator to help resize the design components found in the tools and software tab on our web site www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware
  • Brian-san,

    Thanks for your response.

However, input is normal low and high AC line.

    Output is DC 280V 300W.

I apologize for my mistakable question.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Wada-san

The UCC29950 is a combination PFC and LLC controller. The PFC stage will output about 385V and will work over the universal AC line votlage range of 85V to 264V. The LLC input/output conversion ratio is governed by the transformer turns ratio and the frequency that it is running at.

There is a calculator available for this device at http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc576  This will work for an output voltage of 280V and will allow selection of the transformer turns ratio and the resonant tank components.

The design files for the TIDA-00704 are at http://www.ti.com/tool/tida-00704 but this is a 32V output design not a 280V - however parts of the design may be useful.

I'll send you the design files for the UCC29950EVM-631 to you directly by email - it's a large file.

The transformer - RLTI-1115 is made by Renco Electronics and you should ask them for the design information - their website is at https://www.rencousa.com/

    Regards
    Colin
