UCD3138: TIDA-00653 charge_buck and discharge_boost quesiton

Part Number: UCD3138
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00653

Dear TI,

I would like to know some details of TIDA-00653 DCDC bidirectional charger and discharger for battery. Since I_CMD's absolute value can represent current and postive/negative can represent buck/boost mode. Can the demo board can transit from boost/discharge 100A to buck/charge 100A by input -100 and +100 in I_CMD? If yes, what is the transition time, 100us,1ms or 10ms? thanks.

  • Am AE will be helping you on your E2E question soon.
  • Hi,

It is recommended not to directly go from one direction to other. The current firmware needs a standby mode before the current direction is reversed, so it cannot do a transit from boost to discharge. However , the code can be modified to do this operation depending upon which hardware topology is in test here . The ZVS transition mode hardware will need some time to change the reference voltage capacitor( So a standby mode is required) but the hardswitching hardware does not.

    Thanks,
    Sanatan
