TPS63060: Current Consumption Peaks at very light loads in PFM mode

Part Number: TPS63060

Hi,

We are currently developing a board with the TPS63060.

We have a Li-Ion Battery (3.7V typical) input and a 3.3V Output for the rest of the system.

We have observed some high current peaks compared to the standby mode when our system is in "Sleep Mode". The current drawn by the load is about 30uA.

Those peaks roughly occurs every 20ms.

The issue disappear in PWM mode, but the quiescent current is then too high for our application.

See the screenshot below with schematics/layout/measurements.

Schematics: (There is about 15uF of decoupling capacitance connected to the 3V3_OUT Rail on the rest of the circuit)

L1 - Top Tracking

L2 - GND

PWM Mode - GREEN: Iout / No Load

PFM Mode Enabled - YELLOW: Iout / GREEN: Iout (zoomed out) / No Load

Is this matching the expected behavior of the DC/DC regulator for very light loads?

Regards,

Wassim
