BQ35100: Parallel Battery Connection and Temperature Monitoring

Part Number: BQ35100

Hi I am designing a product in which we are using BQ35100 as fuel gauge to measure battery EOL. We are using two batteries in parallel. My first question is

- Can we use identical batteries in parallel with BQ35100 fuel gauge without any additional circuitry or requirement?

In our current scenario the batteries are not connected thermal as they are apart from each other. My second question is

- We only have one thermistor, is it ok to just connect this thermistor with one of the batteries or do batteries need to be thermally connected.

Best Regards

Salman

  • Hi Salman,

    See responses to your questions:

OA: as long as the batteries are of the same type from the same manufacturer with the same capacities, they can be connected in parallel otherwise you shouldn't do that.

We only have one thermistor, is it ok to just connect this thermistor with one of the batteries or do batteries need to be thermally connected.

OA: No, the batteries shouldn't be thermally connected. You can place the thermistor in between both batteries.

    thanks
