BQ25895: Input current on VBUS

Part Number: BQ25895

Hello,

I am having trouble reducing current from Vbus with my system in idle mode and no battery attached. Is it realistic to get less than 5mA of current on VBUS?  I read on page 8 of the datasheet, Isys(Load), System discharge load current, Min=30 mA. What does this mean??

  • Christopher,

The typical quiescent current into VBUS with no load on SYS and the battery not charging is 3mA. For lower current, you will need to enter HiZ mode using the HIZ bit, which results in the system being powered from the battery only.

That answers half the question. Can you also explain the meaning of Isys(Load), System discharge load current, Min=30 mA ?
