Gentlemen,

I am having an issue getting started with the bqProduction system and bq40z50-R1 gas gauges.

I have developed a pack using the bq40z50-R1 and have been able to successfully program and calibrate it using bqStudio. I am trying to transition to the bqProduction environment for production programming and calibration. Using the HPA495 Advanced Multitester I have created a fixture for doing the production testing. When I start the bqProduction program with a known good board (programmed using bqStudio), I get the message "command channel not found". I have checked the wiring of my fixture to verify that it is the same as shown in the app note.

Is there some preparation work that needs to be done to the HPA495 or to the bqProduction before using it to program and calibrate the boards?

Still looking for an answer on this one. I am currently using the version dated 10/6/2015. Can someone help me on this?

Sorry George, this must have slipped through the cracks. Can you try this version ...www.ti.com/.../sluc574
it says 4th april 2016. Also make sure when testing,an instance of bqstudio isn't started.

OK, I tried loading the bqProduction 1.0.9 Installer dated 4/4/16.

Now when I start the bqProduction program with my board connected, I see the adapter acknowledged, but the "cal board found" box is not checked, I can't flash the LEDs, and I don't get any voltage to the board in order to set the voltage calibration values. Am I still missing something in the initial setup?

This time I tried removing the HPA495 board from my test fixture and hand-wired it directly to the test board. I'm still getting the same result. I've tried two different PCBAs, both of which programmed successfully using bqStudio, but still nothing is happening. Any other ideas?

Are you using the Ev2300 or the EV2400 communications adapter? What version firmware is programmed to the adapter? You can see this with the bqStudio Dashboard panel. You will not be able to use bqProduction without the HPA495 board and you need both the SMBus and I2C connections attached.

I am using the EV2300, version 3.1m.

I do have both the SMB and I2C lines connected to the HPA495.

The bqProduction does read that the board is attached, but does not indicate a "Cal Board Found" when I do a search on connected boards.

I do not have a bqMtester, so someone at TI will probably have to help to isolate your problem. If you can attach a picture of the set, then I may see something wrong.

I forgot to mention that using the EV2300 with version 3.1m firmware should work.
