UCC29910A: Ask the possibility

Part Number: UCC29910A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28180, UCC28070A, , UCC3895, UCC28950

Hi Sir,

We evaluated a AC to DC design ,the spec is as below, I have downloaded the Ti design document and not sure if it is workable. Could you help to suggest it or recommend other solution.

VAC: 85~265 60Hz

Vout: 280VDC

current :10A

BTW: per you experience , how much is the regulation ?  or We needs to change to other structure like VAC ->VDC(400V)-> VDC(280V) to get better structure.

  • Hi KJ,

UCC29910A is Buck PFC controller and the total output power is 2.8kW, Buck PFC is not applicable for such high power application since input peak current is very high. At 2.8kW power level you should probably look at a CCM PFC. The choices are either a single CCM controller - for example the UCC28180. Alternatively an interleaved CCM design using the UCC28070A.

The output of the boost stage will probably be at about 400V, so you need another DC/DC stage to step down the voltage to your 280V, and the best choice for this stage would be the soft switching topology such as PSFB. We have UCC28950/UCC3895 for PSFB control.

    Thanks
