BQ25015: IC is not reporting charge done

Hello,
customer evaluates the BQ25015. He measures for more than two hours the charge current is below I(TAMPER) so the tamper timer should have been expired by know and report a charge done state. Unfortunately it isn’t. The charge current is 12mA at the moment, bellow I(TAPER) but not below I(TERM). So after 30 min it should say ‘done’ right?

Hello Holger,

The BQ25015 should be timing out. Please check over your set Taper and Term current and ensure thay are what you believe.

Also check for voltage current ripple. This could reset the timer.

Hello David,still it failed because the battery charger reported a fault condition so it stopped charging and it drained the battery. A workaround is to toggle the CE pin once and a while when the charger reports the fault, but that does not resolves the root cause.

For the tamper and termination current they have a calculation sheet, it should be ok. I will send to you, please have a look into it.
