Dear Team,
a customer considers to use the BQ24040. They use the BQ with a NTC and also a 250k resistor to avoid the part going into TTDM.
We would like to know if we can still detect different failures:
Battery Detect:
- We assume that the battery detect works without problem in this condition because the Battery Detect functionality is cont. active as the part does not enter TTDM.
NTC:
- Short to VBAT or GND would result in hot/cold failure.
- NTC floating: We are not sure how the BQ reacts to an inserted battery with faulty (floating) NTC. Will it result to a TS fault or Battery-Not-Inserted?
Kindly asking for your feedback about the floating NTC question.
If you have any other tips how to detect failures in this matter, we'd look forward to hear some comments.
Best Regards
Martin
