BQ28Z610: Description in datasheet for gauging

Part Number: BQ28Z610

Hi Team,

It is written in the datasheet  "It determines battery state-of-charge by analyzing individual cell voltages when a time exceeding 10 minutes has passed since the last charge or discharge activity of the battery".  What does it mean? I am confused from this statement.

  • Hi Abishek,
I would encourage you not to get wrapped up in the minute details on the working of the algorithm otherwise you would get too confused.
That statement means that when the gauge is in relaxation mode, it starts checking for the dv/dt condition which is 4uv/s to take a qualifying OCV measurement that will be used for qmax calculations. It doesn't mean that the gauge needs 10 mins to determine the SOC of the battery. Sorry for unclear explanation there in the TRM.
    thanks
    Onyx
