ucc28631: DC Input

Part Number: UCC28631

Hi,

The from calculation spreadsheet what do I input for DC input voltages?

  • John Lee,

Thanks for your interest here. I've contacted an apps engineer to see if they know how the calculator can be used for DC input voltage. You should hear from them by tomorrow.

    Regards

    John S

  • I believe I found it in the Data Sheet as
    Vin(avg)=Vrms*Sqrt(2)
    but can you confirm.
  • John,

For DC input, divide it by sqrt(2) to get an equivalent AC RMS value - the calculator assumes that the AC input is peak-rectified. So the peak value will then be equivalent to your DC input.

You can over-ride the calculated value of bulk capacitance with your own value (maybe 10x bigger) to reduce the AC ripple close to zero, to simulate having a true DC input with no low frequency ripple.
