BQ25895M: Can not Power On occasionally.

Part Number: BQ25895M

Hello,

Customer made device using bq25895m as attached.

Sometimes,  cannot Power On because there is no VPWR output even if battery voltage is arround 3.9V  and QON# pin is high.

At that time, connect Vbus power, it can powered on, but remove Vbus power, it powered off.

Did you see this kind of symptom? and can you recommend how customer solve this problem?

Please see attached schematic.

Regards,

Nicky

  • When problem happens, need to remove battery from device and then re-connect it to power on device.
But this device is not battery changeable.

  • Nicky,

Does REG9[bit5] report that the battery FET is turned off?  The internal battery FET will automatically turn off as explained below:

    8.2.15.2 Battery Over-Discharge Protection

When battery is discharged below VBAT_DPL, the battery FET is turned off to protect  thebattery from over

discharge. To recover from over-discharge, an input source is required at VBUS. When an input source is

plugged in, the BATFET turns on. The battery is charged with IBATSHORT (typically 100 mA) current when the VBAT <

VSHORT, or precharge current as set in IPRECHG register when the battery voltage is between VSHORT and

    VBATLOWV.

    8.2.15.3 System Overcurrent Protection

When the system is shorted or significantly overloaded (IBAT > IBATOP) so that its current exceeds the overcurrent

limit, the device latches off BATFET. Section BATFET Enable (Exit Shipping Mode) can reset the latch-off

    condition and turn on BATFET

Are either of these conditions applicable?  I noticed that the ISAT for the inductor is 3.1A?  What is the maximum charge current and OTG current?
