BQ24232: Can a Li Ion battery connected to this part power the system in the absence of 5V input from USB/ AC adapter?

Part Number: BQ24232
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24075, , BQ21040

Hi all!

My first post in TI forums..

I am working on the design of a Li ion/ Li Po battery powered system.
I am ideally looking for a part that charges the battery when the system is not operational.

My system runs only on the battery and not from USB or AC adapter. It needs only 3.3 V @ 500 mA (appx.).

I thought I can make use of BQ24232 or BQ24075 IC to power my system as well as charge the battery.

But I got the following doubts. Kindly answer them.

1. Can a Li Ion battery connected to this part power the system in the absence of 5V input from USB/ AC adaptor? Can this IC supply drive my system with load requirement of around 500 mA?

2. Can I use the standard 3.7 V Li Ion/ Li Po batteries with this IC? If yes, how can the IC give out 4.4 V at output when running only on battery?
