How to reset bq27541 to manufacturing default if it is sealed ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27541

All,

When I sealed my bq27541 IC, there must have been a typo in it. Because now I can't unseal it

using the key that I've always used to seal and unseal. This key should never change.

Is there any procedure that I can reset the IC to factory default condition ? I don't mind even if it erases

all the data flash data. I just need to regain access to it.

I tried to use the firmware update procedure, but it does not work. Gives me "Error 722".

Any advise or suggestion is appreciated. If there is simply no way, please let me know.

Then all I need to do is to dig through the epoxy material, retrive the board, remove IC, solder new IC..and..., errrr !

I hope there is a way !!

Thanks,

Chad

  • Chad,

Please try to unseal with default key and if the key is changed and you can not remember it  i am afraid that the IC has to be repalced. There is no way to get the device back even with reset.

To unseal put 0x0414 and 0x3672 into the control register.

    Thanks

    Ming

  • Ming,

The default key actually works !! I didn't even think of it because I was so sure I changed

the security key. I don't know how this happened.

Anyway, thanks a lot. Now I don't have to go around the world just to replace the IC.

And I also learned there is NO way to recover a sealed IC.

    Much Thanks,

    Chad

I've attached a powerpoint file showing the seal and unseal procedure using EVSW.  You can see the data which needs to be sent to the Control() command to unseal the device if your gauge was sealed with the default keys.  You should be able to determine the exact I2C sequence from this information.
