BQ78350-R1: Unrecoverable failure during .srec download

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,

We have had two occasions in a row where downloading the .srec file into a BQ78350-R1 has failed and subsequent communication with the BQ78350-R1 has not been possible.

The failure occurred on two different PCB assemblies.  On the first occasion, replacing the device fixed the problem and downloading  the .srec file worked without a hitch.

The second time, we are waiting for replacement chips to arrive.

Is this a known problem, and is it normal for a chip to be put into an unrecoverable state if communication fails during firmware download?

The SMBus data and clock signals look OK and I can see bqstudio trying to communicate if I manually select the BQ78350-R1.

BQstudio version is 1.3.54

and we are using the EV2300 version 3.1m

Thanks in advance for any ideas as to what is going wrong.
